Did you know 1 in 7 CT residents face food insecurity? June 6 is National Hunger Awareness Day (not to be confused with Hunger Action Day in September), a day to raise awareness about food insecurity in the United States.
Together with other incredible volunteers, the Heart has helped sort over 67 thousand pounds of food (that’s about 57 thousand meals!) over the past 5 months. These sorted food items are distributed through mobile and local food pantries to CT residents and families facing food insecurity.
