Hello community!

With the annual Point-In-Time (PIT) Count happening this week, Sierra Roots is opening the Emergency Weather Shelter Tuesday and Wednesday nights (Jan 27 & 28) to make sure folks have a safe, warm place indoors ahead of and during the count.

📍 Where: Veterans Hall (lower level), 415 N Pine St, Nevada City
⏰ When: Doors open 4:30, arrive befoee 8:00 pm

🍽️ Dinner: Served at 5:30 pm

🐾 Pets welcome (on leash and with their owner)

Guests can expect a warm place to sleep, blankets, hot dinner and breakfast, and basic supplies. Huge thanks to our local restaurants for stepping up:

• Tuesday dinner from Lola’s at the National Hotel, dessert by Treats

• Wednesday dinner from Deer Creek Bar & Grill

The PIT Count is a one-day, HUD-required effort that helps our county understand the scope of homelessness and directly impacts future funding and resources. Volunteers from across the county will be out connecting with folks and helping make that snapshot possible.

Want to help? We’re always grateful for new meal sponsors! If you're interested in providing a hot dinner or breakfast for our participants please reach out to [email protected].
