***Is Abduction Defense necessary in our area?*** In the last nine months, Southwest Missouri has seen several cases of human trafficking and abduction. Human trafficking reports have been on the rise, with approximately 350 reports related to trafficking received from the region during this period. These cases include both s*x and labor trafficking, with s*x trafficking being more prevalent. The area is also a known route for human trafficking due to its proximity to major highways, which traffickers often use. Additionally, abductions linked to trafficking efforts have been reported. This was according to M. Lane Harrison. Human Trafficking Hotline. This is why Shield Academy is starting abduction defense training in January of 2025. I know it's not a comfortable subject or positive or entertaining, but it is reality. I don't know how anyone can read that information and not find a way to make personal safety a priority for themselves or their children.
