I’m not sure people know that we do fiberglass repair / gel repair here @ the Needles facility. Mike Weston, who has 25+yrs in the marine industry. Building boats, repairing boats, and working for, Nordic for 15+yrs. Has been with us for over 3yrs. He does beautiful work and unlike so many shops. He has a conscience.
We were asked to fix some cracks on the transom of a, Stoker outboard. A lot of, Stokers have this issue. And the fix is not a easy one. Here are some pictures of what transpired…
The WELL had to be cut out to get to all the wood on the transom as it was rotted, and the glass was delaminating on the stringers along with the knees / supports. Cousa board was used to replace the wood. Super stout with no fear of ever rotting. The whole transom and knees / supports were made from this product. Expensive but worth it. Mike then designed the knees to go up inside the cross brace that goes side to side. The knees were then glassed to the stringers, to the floor, and then the transom. Way stronger then original. Mike then designed a new flat well. Way nicer looking with no weakness. The transom was then capped and re gel coated and rubbed out.
