Good Roots

With 3 markets to go, I have some good news and some bad news.
The bad news. A good amount of our fresh produce for this season has passed. We do have fresh figs this week, watermelon, potatoes, squash and hot peppers (make your own on pint). We have sparing eggplant and cukes, get all things pickle while you can.
The good news. We froze, dehydrated and saved as much extra produce as we could so we'll have more salsa, jellies, breads and soups through the end of this month.
AND in other good news I seeded fall tomatoes. They look great 👍 almost time to bump up. Fingers crossed for fall tomatoes.
We have roasted garlic & thyme rustic bread, honeyboat squash soup, hot pepper jelly and more of that super popular watermelon salsa. Farmer Mark is frying up flour and corn tortilla chips for all your salsa needs.
Come see us tomorrow from 8-12 down on the riverfront Natchitoches Farmers Market !

It's hard for a Maine girl not to keep talking about the heat, so I'm just going to get right into what we'll be bringing to market tomorrow.
Hand made potato chips are back! We'll have plain, Ranch and Salt & Vinegar. They go fast. You'll want to be early for these.
The cushaw Pecan bread and jalapeño cheddar bread look amazing.
This will be pretty much the end of tomatoes, maybe a few next week but the bulk of them are done. The heat and lack of rain, is punishing the heirlooms.
The soup this week is tomato & eggplant. I've already taste tested (of course). The eggplant really absorbs the tomato flavor and gives the soup a great texture. Your family will never know all the healthy veggies they are eating.
We've got lots of pickles, more bags of peas and 3 kinds of hummus.
Oh, and don't forget 🍉. We'll have refreshing bites to eat right at market and we have few sugar babies and jubilee.
We can't wait to see you!
Everyone keep your fingers 🤞 crossed for rain. We could sure use it.
