WHAT IS THAT SMELL 👃💨🔥

We share this every year as a reminder of what can happen when you first turn on your heater after months and months of non-use.
Within a few minutes of doing this, you may notice a burning smell throughout your home that leads to all sorts of scary thoughts.

DON’T PANIC! That fire-like smell is due to the heater burning off the dust that has accumulated since you last used it. If the smell of burning dissipates and you see no other signs of fire, you do not need to call 911.

If you see smoke and/or flames along with the burning smell, that is when you should immediately turn off the system, evacuate your home, and call 911.

Before turning on the heater for the first time, you could have the unit serviced by a licensed heating/cooling contractor or service provider to ensure everything is running smoothly.
