"Real Estate is a great investment". We have all heard it but here is a real life example.
My clients purchased their new construction home in Romeoville in 1996 for $144k.
They live in it and raised their two children. Now, identical homes in their neighborhood are selling for $300k. They are poised to make over $150k!!
Now, let's say they decided to rent 28 years ago.
If they paid a monthly rent of $1,500, they would have spent $504k and have NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT!!!
