Ashfaq Syed – Naperville City Council Swearing-In Remarks
Good afternoon, everyone.
First and foremost, I thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to serve this incredible community.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to my parents. My late father, who I know is watching proudly from above, instilled in me the values of service and compassion. And my beloved mother, sitting here in the front row today, has been a constant source of strength and inspiration. It is because of them that I am here today dedicated to giving back to the community that has given us so much.
To my wife, Ayeisha—thank you for being my unwavering support, my rock, and my quiet strength. You have stood by me through every step of this journey, made countless sacrifices, and always encouraged me to move forward.
To my children—Juveria, Amaan, and Amaar—thank you for your love, your help throughout the campaign, and your patience with my many absences at home and at the dining table. I could not have done this without you.
To my brothers and their families, your constant support has meant the world to me. I’m so grateful to be surrounded by such a strong and loving family.
Today, I stand before you with immense humility and gratitude as I begin my service on the Naperville City Council. This is not only a personal milestone—it is a reflection of our shared hopes and the collective spirit of Naperville.
To the residents—thank you for placing your trust in me. I am truly honored to represent you, and I will work diligently to uphold the values we all cherish.
To my friends, supporters, and volunteers—your belief in me gave me the strength to persevere. I will never forget the role you played in making this moment possible.
I also want to recognize the outgoing council members for their dedicated service. Their efforts have built a strong foundation, and I am committed to building on their legacy with integrity and purpose.
As we look ahead, I am committed to helping shape a Naperville that honors its past—while embracing innovation, inclusivity, and growth.
Together, we can continue to make our city a place where every voice matters and every resident feels at home.
Special thank you to Justice Linda Davenport for swearing in my office for Naperville City Council, Mr. Somnath Ghosh, Consul General of India, Chicago, Ambassador Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, Former Indian Ambassador, Congresswoman Delia Ramirez, Justice, Mary K O Brien and many elected officials and community leaders!
Thank you for this incredible opportunity. I am ready to listen, engage, and lead with integrity.
Warm regards,
Ashfaq Syed

That’s fantastic news! Naperville’s recognition as the best city to live in for 2025—for the second year in a row—is a testament to the strong leadership, responsible governance, and unwavering commitment of our community.
This achievement doesn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of years of strategic planning, sound fiscal management, and collaborative efforts between city officials, businesses, nonprofits, and—most importantly—our residents. From top-tier schools and safe neighborhoods to vibrant local businesses and outstanding city services, Naperville continues to set the standard for excellence.
As we celebrate this incredible milestone, we must also stay focused on the future. Growth, infrastructure, and maintaining our high quality of life require proactive leadership that listens to residents and makes smart investments.
This is why I’m running for Naperville City Council in 2025—to ensure we continue building on our successes while addressing the challenges ahead. Together, let’s keep Naperville the best place to live, work, and raise a family!
Naperville is more than just my home—it’s a community that has given so much to my family and me. That’s why I’ve dedicated myself to serving our city!!
