Maples maples maples. The chips smell like syrup. Not sure why.

Here are some pictures of why I never recommend planting maple trees especially in Nampa. The soil is not ideal for maples (too alkaline) and maple trees have root issues. Here are some examples of root dysfunction that I have seen this spring. The roots girdle themselves cutting off water flow to the canopy and leaves which in turn causes the leaves and south facing bark to overheat and die. Here goes the biggest job we have ever done. Those little poplar trees at the home Depot seem pretty innocent for $40. Until they destroy your yard and everything around them and grow to be 100 feet tall...
