Lifestyle of Worship.
“Often times people think ‘worship’ is just the singing portion of our services. But worship is our life…what we do with our thoughts, actions, money, and time… these are all forms of worship. Everyone is worshipping something, the question just becomes what are we worshipping? When I first came to Thomas Road in 2002, we started transitioning our services (specifically musically) from observation to participation and watching our church respond in worship has been amazing over the past almost 20 years. But response in singing isn’t the only way I’ve seen our church ‘worship’. I often tell the story of when I just arrived, things were transitioning slowly but then I watched our people worship in a way that changed how I viewed their hearts toward the matter. One evening, we had a missionary share about her mission work in Brazil, what God was doing, and what they were praying that God would provide. She shared how if they had a van it would allow them to pick up and transport kids to and from their church house and really take their work with the kids of the town to another level. Right after she spoke, Dr. Falwell got up and asked her how much money she would need to get a van. She responded with around $9,000.00. Dr. Falwell then said “Okay, I’m going to give the first thousand and I need 8 other people right now to commit to giving one-thousand dollars so this lady can do God’s work.” In a matter of 30 seconds I saw a church spontaneously worship…but not with their voices, or their hands…with their money. Which actually is more sacrificial than any of what we normally consider ‘worship’.
 
You see, a ‘lifestyle of worship’ like we talk about often at Thomas Road goes far beyond the songs we sing…it’s the essence of who we are as Christ-followers. It’s our prayer that people not only respond in worship during our services, but live lives that worship God in the other 167 hours in a week.” - , Teaching Pastor
