Alice Day, taking place this year on the 5th July, celebrates the boat trip down the Thames in Oxford where Lewis Carroll told Alice Liddell and her sisters the story that was to become Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. This has become widely referred to as The Golden Afternoon and is celebrated on the first Saturday in July each year. Oxford city, in particular, becomes its own Wonderland celebrating its connection to Lewis Carroll, Alice and the classic story.
