Community Law Enforcement Appreciation Committee

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is happy to announce the passage of South Carolina’s new Fargo’s Law. Under the new law:

🐾 Taunting, teasing, striking, or interfering with a police K9 is now a misdemeanor.
🐾Injuring or killing a police K9 is now a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
🐾 Offenders can also be required to pay restitution for veterinary care, training, and replacement costs.

Our K9 officers are our loyal partners who help keep deputies and communities safe every single day. They deserve nothing less.
