If you voted for Mike Cox prior to him dropping out of the election, you can spoil your ballot and get a new one

Michigan voters have time to request a new mail-in (absentee) ballot if they voted for a candidate who has dropped out.

The official process, called “spoiling” a ballot, allows your local clerk to mark your original ballot invalid and issue a new one if your request is made before the deadlines and your ballot has not already been counted. This can be done in person, or by submitting a written and signed request to your clerk, stating you need a new mail-in (absentee) ballot and if you’d like it mailed or will pick it up.

Visit mi.gov/vote to learn more about the process of mailing in a ballot.

Correction to prior statement: It was voter registrations, not absentee ballots that were delivered.

Statement on President Trump's Speech Regarding Muskegon:

Last night on July 16, 2026, President Donald Trump mentioned Muskegon in his speech about election integrity.

During the election cycle of 2020, it was reported that an individual (female) had been detained after dropping off thousands of voter registrations to the City of Muskegon when the city clerk detected and reported to authorities the discovery of fraudulent materials. The detainee admitted she was hired and received payment via bank cards for collecting voter registrations through a company called GBI Strategies.

An investigation was performed by the Muskegon Police Department, who then turned it over to the Prosecutor's office. The Prosecutor turned it over to the State Police, who then turned it over to the FBI.

We have not received any further updates regarding this situation for close to 6 years, and there have been no prosecutions. Once it was turned over to the FBI, the situation and case seemed to have disappeared.

We are looking forward to this finally being dealt with and getting the truth out on it.
