Alexx may be new to WasteLess, but she's quickly becoming one of Utah's experts on food waste prevention and diversion. At Indie Pitch, she'll be pitching to launch the WasteLess Way, a new education certification program that empowers Utahns to cut food waste.

Meet Jacey Thornton, Executive Director of Project Rainbow! Jacey's work empowers and uplifts Utah's LGBTQ+ community during flag campaigns three times a year, which help fund Project Rainbow's Community Fund.

At Indie Pitch, Project Rainbow is seeking funding to help purchase and outfit a van that will help expand their programming statewide. Jacey's working diligently to secure matching funds, which could help stretch Indie Pitch dollars even further.

Meet Shauna Brown, the Executive Director at Project Read

Shauna joined Project Read in 2001, and the program has grown tremendously over her tenure. Project Read now enrolls over 200 students each year in their literacy, math, and digital skills courses between their sites in Salt Lake and Utah Counties.

At Indie Pitch, Shauna is pitching to pilot a new remote tutoring model that may allow Project Read to expand their programming statewide.

We are thrilled to invite you to a dynamic, live event where the audience holds the final decisionmaking power in grants. We're giving away three $15,000 grants for new, innovative projects, and YOU will help decide who wins.

All you have to do is join us at Indie Pitch on October 27!

At the event, you will hear seven inspiring local nonprofits pitch their game-changing projects. From mental health awareness and adult literacy, to environmental restoration and human rights, these organizations are tackling some of our community's biggest challenges with out-of-the-box solutions.

Meet the Finalists:
Mental Healthy F.i.T.: Using film and art for youth mental health.
Defy Ventures: Giving people with criminal histories a second chance through entrepreneurship.
Seven Canyons Trust: Reconnecting our community to nature by turning creek biodata into music.
WasteLess Solutions: Empowering families and businesses to reduce food waste.
Project Rainbow: Expanding visibility and support for LGBTQ+ individuals in rural Utah.
Project Read: Piloting remote tutoring to bring literacy skills to adults across the state.
Utah Peer Network: Growing the peer support workforce for behavioral health and justice systems.

At the end of the night, three of these organizations will leave with $15,000 to bring their vision to life.
