Corn cob jelly in the pot, some mango pineapple and some Punisher.. Kentucky Candy with an Habanero.

Corn cob jelly is made from actual corn cobs, and is know as poor mans honey. We use fresh corn cobs, but in the 1800s it was taking the corn from the corn crib, dried of course, boiling them to release the flavors and the final product tastes a lot like honey, but with a slight corn finish.

And it gets asked more often than you can imagine... no we don't eat the corn off the cobs and then process them. The corn is cut off to give the cobs and we freeze that for stews and chili, like today.

We will be at the Murray Downtown Farmers Market (Paula) and the Paducah Farmers' Market (Robert) this weekend.

Many of our products will also be in Paducah at a location near Baptist Health starting near the end of month.

So Robert... why the Texas Mosquito picture???

We will gone a week, starting Tuesday, to Chute, TX to snuggle with Paula's favorite bug.. the mosquito.... at the 44th annual Great Texas Mosquito Festival, south of Houston. It's hot, it's humid, it's a long way, but luckily the shows start late in the day and carry late into the night. We'll see how it goes.

Our daughter lives in Houston and it gives us the chance to see her and pay for it. And I haven't had decent dirty rice since the 1990s. :)

I've been asked about blackberry, normally I trip across something... nothing.. So I'm getting serious about it when we get back. Okra has been obnoxiously expensive due to the lack of heat early in the year, it's hitting.... But I know you want it, so effort will be made.

We have 4 orders online at www.kentuckyfreshjam.com still to go out, that's tomorrow's job, and then packing for the weekend shows. I have been a little slower, our inventory got behind earlier in the year.

We will also be at the Kentucky State Fair again this year end of August, Hamfest in Cadiz and a couple others, but not as much as last year.

Jam on.
