I can picture everything about the control room of Great Circle Studio in Nashville. It’s where I was when an A&R guy, Dan Michaels, asked me if I ever thought about producing one day. To be honest, I hadn’t but that conversation planted a seed. That was 27 years ago. In the last few days I’ve been working on a project for someone and have thought about this producer hat that I’ve learned to wear in everything I do. Yes, in music but also in video, art direction, writing a book and even what I do with my podcast. Producing and helping to tell the overall story is something I’ve learned to do over the years. As an independent artist, it became a necessary mantle to step into to bring projects to fruition. But over the years, I’ve realized I’m pretty good at wearing this hat. At bringing ideas to life. At helping form an identity and tell a story, in a unique and better way. At thinking about the audience and what it will be like for them to experience this creation.
I had a wild idea. I wonder if anyone out there needs help “producing” something? If that’s you, send me a message. I have no idea where this will go. I don’t know what will work with timelines or budgets but felt like it was a step of faith I was being invited into.
So, yeah, I’m a creative that has brought many ideas to light, and maybe you or your organization needs my eye and imagination to bring something you’re working on into this world. This is me.
