Inside The Frame

Last month I attended the WCAF Expo in Las Vegas. Attending several classes to enhance skills and framing knowledge through lectures and hands-on workshops. Walk the trade show floor interacting with vendors to see new products, ask questions about new/existing equipment and network with fellow industry professionals from around the world.

Additionally I brought home an accomplishment... taking the PPFA's Certified Picture Framer test and passing. Earning the CPF designation demonstrating a knowledge of industry best practices.

Custom framing isn't always about framing traditional art. Sometimes, it's preserving memories or significant events within one's life.

Here, a wedding invitation, rehearsal dinner and reception card are float mounted in a fillet frame providing depth and importance to the presentation.

Every so often there is a project where the materials so perfectly compliment the art so well, and this was one of them. I was honored to have the opportunity to frame this "self-portrait" of my clients father-in-law as a gift for her husband. This was a new moulding line from Studio that I had just received a few weeks earlier and knew it was perfect for this watercolor when she sent me a photo of the project!
