That quote reminded me of second grade.

Do you remember demerits?

Hearing that quote feels like it’s 1978 all over again. Corduroy jeans, construction-paper demerits, and getting in trouble for staring out the window.

The irony?
I was listening.
I could repeat the teacher word for word.
The information was fully loaded into my brain.

She just didn’t appreciate the way I processed it.

And for years, I believed what teachers thought of me.

I had no idea my IQ was around 133.
Truly.
I did not know I had one of those cool Spielberg/Schwab brains.

High-functioning founders experience this same dynamic every day, except now it’s internal.

They mistake overwhelm for failure.
Intensity for brokenness.
Exhaustion for laziness.
Complexity for lack of ex*****on.

It’s rarely any of that.

Sometimes your brain is a Ferrari with bicycle brakes and 47 tabs open. 😅

One tab is frozen.
One is playing music from somewhere unknown.

And somehow… you’re still building a business.

Mindset shift: Would I pay myself to spend time on this?

My grandma, Hazel was such a wise woman - not always a nice woman.

Some of the principles she taught me they were not sugarcoated and that, is a question she would probably ask me.

I miss her so much, and that question, a Hazel Question absolutely checked me! Stopped me in my tracks.

So now, if the answer is a resounding, no, and it’s not moving me forward or restoring me, it gets less of me.

Time is my greatest asset. I MUST spend it like it matters.
