People don’t understand how horrible childhood trauma really is.
When you grow up not even knowing who one parent father is, and your other patent is battling a serious mental illness, you’re forced to figure out life without stability, without guidance, without safety.
It’s not just trauma—it’s confusion, loneliness, and survival mode.
You learn survival, not safety.
You learn to numb yourself, not heal.
You learn abandonment, not unconditional love.
And people think that if grandparents or another family member steps in, it fixes everything. But it doesn’t. Yes, it can save you from worse pain, but it doesn’t erase the scars already there. The abandonment. The fear. The loss of innocence. The child in you still remembers.
Childhood trauma doesn’t just “go away.” It lives in your nervous system, your choices, your relationships, your sense of self.
If you’ve lived it—you know.
If you haven’t—please don’t judge what you’ve never had to survive.
