Health insurance is built for employers but paid for by employees.
Employers command power in healthcare because they can lower health insurance costs for their employees.
The result is that health insurance companies cater to the needs of the employer rather than the individuals that ultimately fund them.
Which pretty much takes away your freedom of choice.
If you're unhappy with my experience using Samsung, you can easily switch to Apple.
Not so much the case with health insurance.
You'd have to wait until open enrollment to switch your carrier. And your employer might not even be big enough to offer multiple carriers.
When catering to employers, everything becomes about cost optimization and administrative efficiency.
The member experience becomes largely irrelevant.
Most people don't question this until they've had that negative experience, that unexpected medical bill you thought your insurance would pick up 100%.
We'd love to see a future where the individual was treated as the customer and was totally in control of health insurance choices.

Some dreams do come true....
With Thrizer Pay, mental healthcare is readily accessible to everyone.
This opens a whole new world of options for anyone searching for a therapist or out-of-network provider.
No longer do they need to limit themselves to their network and compromise on how soon they receive care.
People who could have never afforded to go to out-of-network specialists before, now can.
Those who depended on insurance reimbursements to book their next session, can now increase their monthly therapy appointments by 4x, without worrying about their bank balance.
Thrizer Pay allows people to truly focus on themselves and their healing, rather than how they will afford care.

Happy Monday to everyone except the people who decided that paying therapists $60 / hour is fair compensation for their skills & value.
Therapists save lives. We need to revamp the system so that therapists earn a fair, livable wage and mental healthcare is still affordable & accessible. Until insurances see the value and need for good mental healthcare benefits, there will continue to be an accessibility problem.
