"I'll just be five minutes" and then forty minutes disappear. Sound familiar?

That's not carelessness or poor planning. Many adults with ADHD experience time blindness, a harder time sensing how much time has actually passed while doing something.

It's a documented difference in time perception, not a character issue.

Try this:
Set a visible timer before quick tasks, not a mental guess
Let the timer interrupt you, not your sense of "I'm almost done"
Notice the gap between your guess and the actual time, without judgment

Over time, this small habit rebuilds trust between your gut feeling and the clock.

Save this for your next "just a second" moment. ⏱️

Exhausted even on the days that didn't seem that hard?

That's not weakness. That's your brain carrying more than most people realize.

Adults with ADHD often spend significant energy on things that go unseen: filtering distractions, managing emotional responses, holding anxiety in the background, recovering from transitions. That invisible load is real.

Try this at the end of a hard day:
Name 2–3 things your brain actually worked through today, not just tasks, but effort. "I held it together in that meeting." "I managed three shifts in plans." "I kept anxiety quiet for 6 hours."
Then say: "That was real work."

You don't have to minimize it to keep going. Acknowledging what it actually costs is what makes rest feel like something other than giving up.
You're not broken. You're carrying a lot.
