🇺🇸 4th of July and your pets 🇺🇸

Friends near and far please be proactive in keeping your pets safe this year during the 4th of July festivities and the days surrounding it. If your dog is a flight risk hand walk them to potty even if you have a fenced yard. Keep them in a safe place with TV or music playing to help drowned out the noise. If you are needing something to keep them quiet you’ve most likely run out of time to get anything from the vets office, so you can use benedryl or go to your local w**d shop and they usually carry anxiety CBD supplements for dogs as well (just ask!). I will be posting a benedryl dosing chart in the comments for dogs.

One more thing... If you see an animal loose or running scared take the time to stop and see if you can get them caught and to a safe place. Show a little more grace towards these animals who don’t understand what is going on. The days following the 4th are busiest shelter days of the year simply because people don’t use enough care and caution with their animals.

Ok two more things... If you are planning on introducing your puppy or dog to fireworks remember Rome wasn’t built in a day. This type of exposure takes time and training, bringing them to the family BBQ to watch fireworks isn’t going to be your best bet at doing this and will most likely do more harm than good.
