🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨 PLEASE SHARE

This is a text one of our clients received today. While messages like this seem legitimate and often scary, here are a few things to determine if it’s real or scam. (This is a scam text)

1. Government agencies will never text you regarding any outstanding issues. Government agencies will mail official letters to your home address.
2. Check the phone number or email address. Always check this. Often times, scam messages and emails will come from random phone numbers and email addresses.
3. NEVER click any links! 🔗 if you request a verification link from a company to your cell phone or email, these will typically come with a code to enter into your account. The link in the text message pictured will take you to a spam website that will try and take your money.

So what do I do? 🤷
Delete the message and if you can, report it as spam! If you are truly concerned or want to double check this circumstance isn’t legit, you can call your local agency to verify if you have outstanding traffic tickets. But most likely they will/can confirm that this text is spam.
