At Fancy Seats, we don’t just decorate weddings we create worlds where love feels magical. From elegant indoor events to dreamy garden parties, every touch is designed to turn moments into memories. 🌹 🦋

Can you guess the venue?

This particular venue is where we started but even more, it has a deep and layered history going back over 150 years:

Origins (1800s)
The building dates back to the 1870s, originally serving as a market with a Masonic temple upstairs.
By 1886, it became the Academy of Music, a major cultural venue in Reading.

Early Entertainment Era (1900s)
In 1917, it was purchased by the Rajah Shriners and renamed the Rajah Theatre.
It hosted: Vaudeville shows, Movies, Live performances and Operas and concerts

Fire & Rebuild
A fire in 1921 destroyed much of the structure.
The auditorium was rebuilt shortly after, preserving its role as a major performance space.

Modern Revival
Around 2000, the building was purchased and fully renovated by the Berks County Convention Center Authority.
It became the Sovereign Performing Arts Center, then later renamed in 2013 to the Santander Performing Arts Center.

Today
Capacity: about 1,700–1,750 seats
Home to the Reading Symphony Orchestra
Hosts: Concerts, Broadway-style shows, Comedy, Community and religious events
