Extended School Year (ESY) is officially underway at Durand, and our hallways are once again filled with smiling faces, warm greetings, and a shared commitment to learning.

While summer often means a break from the classroom, for many students with special needs, continued education is essential. ESY provides the consistency, structure, and reinforcement that helps students maintain the progress they've worked so hard to achieve throughout the school year, keeping them on track toward meeting their educational goals and preparing for graduation.

Each morning, students arrive from school districts across our region and are welcomed with the care, dignity, and enthusiasm that defines the Durand community. Principal Jennifer Amoroso and Chief Safety & Security Officer Cory Holmes oversee the arrival process, ensuring buses move safely and efficiently while every student is personally greeted and supported as they make their way to class. It's a coordinated effort that reflects our belief that every successful school day begins with a warm welcome.

To our dedicated teachers, therapists, support professionals, transportation teams, and staff—thank you for creating an environment where learning continues, relationships grow, and every student has the opportunity to thrive. Here's to another summer of progress, possibility, and bright beginnings at Durand! 💙

🌎✨ Our July Multicultural Calendar highlights opportunities to learn, reflect, and recognize observances which bring communities together and deepen our understanding of one another.

By honoring different experiences, customs, and perspectives, we continue to foster a spirit of respect, connection, and lifelong learning.

Wishing everyone a meaningful and enriching month ahead! 💙
