One of our jobs yesterday. This wasn’t really a cleaning job but we were hired to fix a problem.

These walkways have a french drain system under them. When it rains, the water goes through the joints in the pavers and to the french drain. Due to grass not being seeded next to the walkway, the muddy hill eroded onto the pavers. The mud and dirt filled in the joints causing the water to sit on top.

The customer had tried pressure washing, but this was blowing out the pea gravel from the drain system and damaging the pavers.

Our solution is recovering the wash water while we are cleaning using mild pressure. We have a large water recovery system that is meant to handle wash water with heavy contaminants. We can also filter the water down to EPA standards for disposing the water on site.

The recovery surface cleaner was used at mild pressures just strong enough to break down the dirt in the joints but not harm the paver or pea gravel underneath. This put the dirt in suspension with the water and is sucked up before it has time to settle back down in the joint.

Customer was thrilled with the result.
