Our Adjustable Swivel features provides amazing flexibility and freedom in your ironing, allowing the board to turn a full 180 degrees. And people tend to get pretty creative with that, which asks the question: "Can it be swiveled before the board is fully lowered?"

Unfortunately, no. The swivel is anchored to the middle of the ironing board, which means the back end of the board needs to clear the sides of the cabinet before the board can begin to turn. The point at which this is possible is when the board fully lowered down flat. When this is accomplished, the board can begin to be turned left or right.

The clearance needed in front of the unit for this to be possible? Approx. 51" for our premium 46-inch ironing centers and approx. 47" for our deluxe 42-inch ironing boards.
