The RLF kids are at it again! Today they had interviews for their 4-H PetPals Project! The PetPals is People and Animals Linking Successfully. The project is taking certified animals to nursing homes, and community events, it’s a wonderful way to connect with the community. We are so proud of these kiddos! Hope you will come see them at the Warren Co. Fair next week!

As Rooted Legacy Farm continues to grow, we’re always looking for new ways to serve the agriculture community that has supported us from the beginning.

Over the years, our family has spent countless hours in barns, at livestock shows, and making memories with our animals. Those experiences have taught us that the show ring is about so much more than competition—it’s about faith, family, hard work, responsibility, and building character.

That’s why we’re excited to add a new collection to Rooted Legacy Farm: Rooted Legacy Show Co.

This won’t replace anything we’re currently doing. We’ll continue offering the farm products, educational opportunities, and family-focused agriculture content you’ve come to know us for. We’re simply expanding to include:

Our new RL brand mark will help identify these products while staying true to the values that Rooted Legacy was built on.

On the farm, dads wear many hats. They build fences, fix what breaks, carry the heavy loads, teach life lessons, and somehow always know how to handle whatever the day brings.

This little goat may be reaching for a treat, but it reminds us of something bigger—children are always looking up to their fathers. Watching. Learning. Following their example.

Today we’re thankful for the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who lead with strength, integrity, faith, and love. Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the lessons you teach, and the legacy you leave behind.

Some goats graze on the ground. Ours prefer to find the highest spot they can and proudly survey their kingdom! Watching their personalities shine is one of the best parts of farm life.

This sweet girl is a perfect reminder that sometimes the best view comes from stepping out on a limb. ❤️

🚨 We have some shocking news… 🚨

For the next little while, Rooted Legacy Farm will be temporarily out of eggs. 😳

Before you panic, here’s why…

We’re making a huge change to our flock and selling the majority of our current chickens so we can focus on the breeds we truly love and believe in. Rather than having a little bit of everything, we’re choosing to specialize and build a flock with purpose.

Going forward, our permanent flock will include:
🐓 American Bresse
🐓 Javas
🐓 Ölandsk Dwarfs
🐓 Dominique (coming soon!)

We’re especially excited because Javas and Dominiques are the original pairing that was used to develop the Barred Rock, so we’ll also be experimenting with crossing those two historic breeds.

Even better? With the exception of our tiny Ölandsk Dwarfs, every chicken on our farm will now be a dual-purpose breed, valued for both quality egg production and meat characteristics.

This transition means egg availability will be limited for a bit while our new flock grows and gets settled, but we can’t wait to share this next chapter with all of you. We believe it’s going to make Rooted Legacy Farm stronger and more intentional than ever.

Have you ever wondered what’s really in the food we eat?

At Rooted Legacy, we’re starting a little experiment—and we’d love for you to follow along with us!

Today, we placed a McDonald’s chicken nugget on the antenna of our truck to see how it changes over time. We first did this experiment with our own kids as a way to spark conversations about food, ingredients, and making intentional choices for our family.

For comparison, we’re also going to make homemade chicken nuggets from scratch using simple ingredients we know and trust. We’ll watch how they change over time too—and we’ll be sharing our favorite recipe with all of you!

This isn’t about shaming anyone or saying you can never enjoy fast food. It’s simply about learning, asking questions, and teaching our kids to think critically about what we put into our bodies.

These girls are two and four weeks old! They are growing beautifully and we are so excited for them to go to their new home when the time comes! At two weeks old the little lady in the pink collar is weighing in at 19 lbs, she is by far the biggest baby we have ever had. We are thrilled with this years kids and are excited for the progress we have made with breeding!
