Mark your calendars, Pre-K Parents!

We made "Mothman" stuffies in our Summer Avalanche Appalachian Folklore class!

Today in panther lab exploration station, we practiced the E (engineering ) in STEM. We worked individually to construct a cube out of tools provided, then paired up and combined structures, then finally combined everyone's structure into one.

We practiced the skills of team building, problem-solving, cooperation and communication!

During our Spanish cooking class, students tried fruit with Tajin, made guacamole and arepas, and were able to make and try other many other foods!

Today we had our cumulative project to end our two weeks in Nature Explorers in art!

Out of our days, we used sun paper; then we made our own paintbrushes out of flowers and leaves, and then we used ice and salt to paint in watercolor.

We used our kindergarten scissor skills to cut our art into a straight line, a curvy line, and a zig zag line.

Then we layered our mountainscape!

“Games Galore” explored both classic and modern board & card games this session, favorites include: Bingo, Old Maid, Slap Jack, Flip 7, Marble Run, and Operation.

Students explored hands-on STEAM in the Summer Avalanche program Bots, Brains, and Bricks. They used robotics, 3D pens, Spheros, and coded small cars. They also built, tested, coded, revised, and used creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork to bring their ideas to life.

Summer Avalanche is in full swing at North and the second session begins next week! North has lots of fun classes! During Library Time, students participate in read aloud activities while learning about a variety of different topics. Today we read “Mixed” and experimented with mixing different colors of paint! 🎨 📕

Summer Avalanche Session One begins Monday, June 29 and includes seven days of programming over the next 2 weeks.

Week one starts Monday June 29 and runs through Wednesday July 1.
Week two runs Monday July 6 through Thursday, July 9.
Please note: There will be no programming on July 2nd or 3rd in observance of Independence Day.

Program hours are as follows:
Elementary students attend from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Middle school students attend from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
