The Rowan County Veterans’ Foundation seeks a part-time contract employee to care for the museum’s collection, develop exhibits, and share the stories of local veterans with the community.

What You’ll Do:
The selected candidate will organize and preserve artifacts such as uniforms, medals, photographs, and documents; create exhibits that honor veterans and highlight local military history; work with veterans, families, schools, and community groups; support events, programs, and fundraising; maintain records; assist with basic museum administration; and implement security measures to protect the premises, artifacts, and contents.

What we’re Looking for in Prospective Candidates:
Candidates should have an interest in veterans’ history and community service; experience with museums, archives, or history projects; strong organizational skills; comfort working with volunteers; and the ability to communicate clearly and engage visitors. Formal training is preferred but not required.

Details:
Part-time (30 hours per week), flexible hours, some evenings and weekends. Pay based on experience and available funding.
Contract shall be for 12 months, renewal based on performance and funding. Responsibilities may broaden over time.
The Director reports to the Foundation Board and its President. This is a contractor position with no benefits, and payment will be made every 2 weeks.
