NO BONES BROKEN

(Old Testament Prophecy - Psalm 34:20)

“For the Lord protects the bones of the righteous; not one of them is broken!”

(Fulfilled in Jesus - John 19:32-33, 36)

“So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the two men crucified with Jesus. But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was already dead, so they didn’t break his legs….These things happened in fulfillment of the Scriptures that say, ‘Not one of his bones will be broken.’”

Thought:
Why did the soldiers not break the legs of Jesus; could it be because Jesus was already dead or to fulfill the requirements of the sacrificial Lamb to have no broken bones or perhaps because love had accomplished its purpose?

Prayer:
Father, I confess that in my own understanding I cannot comprehend the enormity of Your love for me. May I daily look at You upon the cross and ponder in my heart that God, the Eternal, has shed Your blood for my sins, and may I live my life in deep gratitude to You and share with others Your love. Amen.
