Spring RHD update!

We have had confirmed case of RHD in jackrabbits in Brown County (north central TX) and suspected RHD in Potter county (panhandle) according to the Wildlife Information Health Sharing Partnership with the contact organization listed as Texas Parks and Wildlife.

This is a reminder that RHD is still present and active, even though it is not as talked about as much. Many suspected cases are not being reported and tested as frequently as before.

“The number and broad geographic distribution of these detections means researchers consider RHDV2 endemic (widespread) in Texas.”
