Charter school bill dies in House committee
Alabama charter school proposal dead for the session | Reform Alabama A House committee carried over action on the Education Options Act this morning, effectively killing for the session a charter school proposal that was a priority for the governor and Republican leadership in the House and Senate.

The House of Representatives kept busy late into last night and got HB588 passed. This bill requires the Department of Education to create and implement a letter grading system of all schools in Alabama. It's one of our Blueprint for Education Reform initiatives, so we're happy to see it go on to the Senate so quickly!
