SUBJECT HAS BEEN LOCATED SAFELY
At about 9:30 PM, Marina Police was notified that John Makarevich was located safely by the California Highway Patrol. He has been reunited with his family.
Marina Police wishes to thank the California Highway Patrol for their assistance in helping to locate John. We also wish to thank our other Monterey County Law Enforcement agencies and our many social media followers for helping us get this information out quickly.
MISSING PERSON AT RISK - SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE TORO PARK/LAS PALMAS RANCH AREAS
On 1/31/19 after 3PM, Marina resident John Makarevich (61 years old) left his residence on the 3100 block of Crescent Avenue in the City of Marina for a routine daily walk. John suffers from Alzheimer's and has difficulty communicating/talking. He was last seen wearing a thick green windbreaker type jacket, unknown color pants and a brown fidora style hat.
John had previously been reported as missing in October 2018. At that time, he was located wandering in the area north of the Marina City Limits.
John has a tracking device that he carries. At about 4:20 PM, the tracking device indicated he was in the area of Reservation Road and Highway 68. Family lost communication with the tracking device for unknown reasons.
At about 6:15 PM, there was an unconfirmed reported sighting of a person matching his description walking southbound on River Road south of Highway 68. He has not yet been located.
John is known to visit Starbucks, Target and Walmart in the surrounding areas. If John is seen or located, please contact police immediately at 831-384-7575.
