Show Me the Way
Gen 12:1-4
12:1 Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." 4 So Abram departed as the LORD had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
Abram was seventy-five years old when God told him to leave His country, his family and his father’s house. To a land God would show him. He told Abram He would make him a great nation, bless him and his name would be great. What God didn’t tell him is where he was going. God said to go to a place He would show him. When we are young we are more open to adventure and trying different things, but as we get older we tend to be in a comfort zone that we like. Do you think Abram was comfortable and God came along and changed that? God blessed Abram just as He promised, but Abram had to follow God’s will in his life. God is the same today. I believe He moves us from our comfort zone to a new level with Him. Ask God today “Are you wanting to move me to new level? Here I am Lord show me the way”.

News of the Storm
Neh 1:3-4
3 And they said to me, "The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire."
4 So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
Last week we read of how God thru Nehemiah had restored the walls around the city of Jerusalem for all to see. In verse 3 of Nehemiah we read of how Nehemiah received the news of Jerusalem’s current state. Verse 4 tells us that after hearing these words he sat down and wept and mourned for many days, fasted and prayed for many days before the God of heaven. In the world we live, news travels fast. As soon as Hurricane IDA passed through New Orleans we began to receive reports of the damage. Newscast, facebook, and other communications. How did we react? Was our reaction the same as Nehemiah? You and I as believers have a broken and desperate world all around us that needs God. Nehemiah wept and prayed before God and He came thru. I believe He wants to do that for us today just as He did then. What storms of life has God sent word to us? What are we doing with the information?

Think Like A Child
John 13:33-35
33 Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, 'Where I am going, you cannot come,' so now I say to you. 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
In John 13:33 Jesus spoke to the disciples and called them little children yet they were grown men. The bible refers to God’s people as children many times. What does it mean to be a child? You’re a son or daughter of someone. Or maybe a dependent. Or maybe it’s your perception. Last Sunday I preached a relative’s funeral and I saw family that I still think of as kids yet they are over fifty years old. I believe Jesus called them little children and says we must be like children to receive the kingdom of heaven to open our mine to Him. This world clouds our thinking and our perception of what the Kingdom Of God is. Ask God to help you see things again as you saw them as a child and not clouded by the things of the world.
