Monroe Police Department Seeks Community’s Help Following Two Overnight Shootings

The Monroe Police Department is asking for the public's assistance following two separate shooting incidents that occurred within hours of each other on Friday, June 27.

The first shooting occurred in the 700 block of Maurice Street when shots were fired into an occupied vehicle around 12:25 a.m. Fortunately, no one inside the vehicle was injured. Investigators believe a dark-colored vehicle traveled from Green Street onto Maurice Street before the shooting occurred. After the incident, the vehicle fled the area by way of Sunset Drive and Church Street.

Just hours later, at approximately 3:38 a.m., Monroe officers responded to the 1700 block of Icemorlee Street after receiving reports of another shooting. Investigators determined that three individuals approached the apartment complex from Labon Street and opened fire on a group of people gathered in the parking lot.

Despite multiple rounds being fired, no one was struck. The suspects fled in the same direction from which they arrived.
Investigators are asking residents and businesses in the areas of Maurice Street, Green Street, Sunset Drive, Church Street, Icemorlee Street, and Labon Street to review any security or doorbell camera footage recorded during the early morning hours of June 27. Even footage that may seem insignificant could provide valuable information to investigators.

The Monroe Police Department is also urging members of the community to stand together against senseless acts of violence.

Gun violence threatens the safety of everyone in our neighborhoods, and solving these crimes often depends on information from those who live and work in the community. If you saw suspicious activity or know anything that could assist investigators, now is the time to speak up.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Monroe Police Department at 704-282-4700. Every tip, no matter how small it may seem, has the potential to help investigators identify those responsible and keep our community safe.

"The reckless use of fi****ms puts innocent people at risk and will not be tolerated in our city," said Chief Bolen. "We are committed to thoroughly investigating these cases and will continue pursuing every lead until those responsible are identified and held accountable. But we cannot do it alone. We need our community to stand with us by speaking up, sharing information, and refusing to let acts of violence become acceptable. Together, we can make Monroe a safer place for everyone."
