The Reid Homestead

Just had a customer out and we were discussing hydrangeas, and I had to pull these photos out from last year to show her my favorite hydrangea.
This is the Strawberry Vanilla Hydrangea, a paniculata cultivar, and it is absolutely stunning! I cannot propagate it for sale as it is still under patent protection, but you all should get yourself one! They prefer full sun to part shade.
The blooms start out white and darken to pink then almost maroon. The blooms are ginormous!

WEEKLY UPDATE for June 5 2026:
I am hoping that this is my last weekend of the season, so if you are in need of anything I have, please get on my schedule asap!
Hours of availability for this weekend I am here both afternoons from noon thru 7pm. Next week, I believe most afternoons I will be available.
Please PM me to set up an appointment, I schedule on the half hour. Please know which day and time you want to come out when you reach out to me and I'll do my best to fit you in, but know that I do get busy on the weekends!
I have found a few more Jimmy Nardello peppers and a few more Early Girl tomatoes, so those are back on the list.
I do have Cinderella & Black Bear pumpkins and National Pickling and Marketmore cucumbers, all of which have just germinated, so not hardened off fully yet. Today was their first day out, but they are available.
Currently I am out of CT Field and Howden pumpkins, more have been sown but they have not germinated yet. I am also out of Straight 8 cucumbers and do not plan to sow more of them.
I have run out of broccoli and cauliflower but still have a few cabbages, both green and red varieties, on sale for $2 each that come in 4-packs. I have also moved my Easy Wave petunias in white and lavender to the sale table along with my magenta Lobelia, so they are all marked down to $2 each.
I want to THANK YOU all so much for shopping with me this season! I am so grateful to you all for supporting my small business and can't wait to see you all next year! I would love it if you tagged me in garden photos either here on Facebook or over on Instagram! I love to see all the garden bounty pics!
PS: edited on 6/6/26 to share that I am officially out of hostas for the season! Will have lots available next spring!
An easy 5 gallon bucket homestead hack, fix the handle with a piece of hose!
Just a reminder to get things watered well today! Tomorrow it will be 85 degrees!
Especially focus on container plantings, things still in pots or newly planted items, or if you have a greenhouse, anything in there!
Also, please remember to water deeply! Remember, you are wanting water to get to the deepest roots of the plants. If water is running off instead of being absorbed, come back to it again and again!

Just a heads up, it is going to be in the low 40's tonight and tomorrow night around these parts....if you have warm season crops like tomatoes, peppers or curcubits planted outside, you might want to cover them tonight or bring them in if you can!
Low temps won't kill them, but will stunt their growth and potentially lower their yield, so protect them a bit if you have the means to do so!
Photo from last year just to dream about, little Queen of the Night tomatoes!
