What happens when you put future field leaders in a room with the people who once stood in their boots?

You get honest conversations, hard-earned advice, and a reminder that growth doesn’t happen alone.

Baker recently hosted its first-ever Five Tours Networking Lunch, bringing together several current participants, graduates, mentors, and supporters of our Five Tours program. Five Tours is a structured, hands-on program that provides interns and new full-time co-workers with experience across multiple areas of concrete construction before helping them chart their career path.

The event was designed to recognize co-workers who completed the program, connect participants across experience levels, and gather feedback on what’s working and where we can continue to improve.

Several graduates were recognized for successfully completing the program and stepping into key field and operations roles across the company.

At Baker, we don’t just provide training. We invest in the future of our co-workers with mentorship and support to realize their dreams.

We build more than better structures at Baker. We also build better lives for the people and families who make this company what it is.

Our co-worker, Samuel Herrera, recently shared pictures of his daughter proudly wearing a Baker hat to her school’s field day. She told her mom she chose to wear that hat because “that’s where my dad works.”

For our people, it’s not just about helping shape skylines or deliver clean water or the future of energy infrastructure. It’s the satisfaction that comes from working with a team that puts people first, honors its word, and respects grit.

That’s the Baker Way.

Looking for more than just a job? We’re hiring across the U.S.

Congratulations to Carla Yaneth Alvares, daughter of co-worker Jose Miguel Alvarez, for winning our 2026 Safety Week Kids Activity Contest!

Carla’s artwork was unanimously selected for its creativity and strong safety message. Her winning design will be featured on this year’s official Safety Week drawstring bag.

Thank you to all the co-workers and families who participated and helped bring safety to life through art. Safety starts at home and continues everywhere we work.

What started as a single email turned into a hands-on learning experience for future engineers.

When George Mason University reached out for support on their concrete canoe team, Baker co-workers stepped in to help guide students through mix design, fabrication, and real-world problem solving.

The journey was not without challenges. Students navigated batching concrete in sub-freezing temperatures, material delays that required last-minute adjustments, formwork issues, and repairs to cracked sections ahead of competition. Despite those hurdles, the team made it to the ASCE Concrete Canoe Competition at the Mid-Atlantic Student Symposium, hosted by the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

We’re proud to support a team with such incredible grit! This is how we build the future of our industry.
