👶 Youth Leads Experience 👶

Jackson Beckel who is hunting his third title in four years across a number of different divisions leads multi time Tire Pros Street Stock Champion Mark Hubbard and teammate Austin Camp with only four races remaining.

Can Beckel bring home this years title? Or will either Hubbard or Camp run him down?

In Honor of our July 11th Reunion Night, its time to start announcing our Pioneer Award winners. You can see these individuals get their awards Saturday July 11th. Our WWRA Award Winner is Tony Hill.

Here is a nice article from Mark Weedin. "Congratulations to Tony Hill on his nomination for the 2026 Evergreen Speedway, Pioneer Award for WWRA/Friday Night racers. Tony, like many of us got his start as a little guy sitting in the old wood grandstands at Evergreen Speedway. In 1969 he started helping a racer who lived in the neighborhood, although he was to young to get into the pits, the fire was lit. Tony joined the Navy in 1975 where he would spend the next 20 years in the submarine force. He came back to town in 1981 and met Mike Gallagher, they built a 71 Skylark that he raced F8’s. In 1982 he bought a Galaxie from Dave Brandenburg that he raced in FEAR until he shipped back out on a submarine to travel the world. Any time that he would get leave, the Gallaghers would throw him in whatever car they had at the time and he would race F8’s. Tony retired from the Navy in 1995, came home and bought a 70 Torino F8 car from “Fat Jack”, this lasted until he was hit in the intersection and flipped, Mike and Dave came over and cut the front and rear clips off, and the car ended up a Granada. In 1998 Tony and the Gallagher’s built an “IMCA Modified” to be raced on Friday Nights with the WWRA Modified’s class. In 1998, Tony won five main events in a row and then totaled the car. They built a new car and from 1999 – 2002, Tony won over 30 main events, four Season Championships. Four times voted “Sportsman and Mechanic of the Year” (He was also voted “Sportsman of the Year” in FEAR) and a couple of “Best Appearing Car” awards. The next 13 years were spent helping his buddies with their F8 cars until Cowboy and Griz finally wore him down and he bought another F8 car. He finished 2nd in points in 2015 and won the 2017 "Evergreen Cup”. Tony ran his last race in 2020 but his presence is still felt at the track, only now he supports his Grandson, Bryson Wingfield, who started in the Youth Hornets in 2022, moved up to Hornets and today races Stinger 8’s. I asked him why he chose #65? “because I always admired Ewart Groves and his number was 65” Tony told me that he always loved the feeling of driving/racing alongside another car, that’s what it’s all about”."
