🐾 Meet Josie! 🐾

Josie is a beautiful 2-year-old spayed female Weimaraner/Great Pyrenees mix (approximately 50/50) weighing 85 pounds. Thanks to her Weimaraner genetics, she sports a striking black coat that turns heads wherever she goes. Josie has been with her family since birth and is now searching for a home better suited to her needs.

Josie is everything people love about a Weimaraner. She is affectionate, intelligent, attentive, and happiest when she is near her people. She enjoys learning, performing tricks for treats, playing with toys, and being involved in whatever her family is doing. While she enjoys spending time outdoors, her owner believes she would thrive as an indoor companion who can be part of everyday family life.

Josie is housebroken, crate trained, and current on vaccinations. She is heartworm negative and receives monthly heartworm prevention. She has no known health issues and is not currently on any medications.

She gets along well with other dogs after a proper introduction and has done well with cats. She has met children in public settings and has been friendly, though she has not lived directly with children. Her only significant issue is a strong prey drive toward poultry, making a home with chickens or other free-ranging birds unsuitable. This is the primary reason she is being rehomed.

Josie enjoys running and playing with other dogs, chewing on durable toys, carrying around empty water bottles, going for walks, and showing off her tricks, including sit, shake, lay down, and speak. She is food motivated and enjoys earning treats for good behavior.

Her ideal home would be with someone who wants a loyal companion to share life with. She would love an active family that enjoys walks, hikes, road trips, and taking their dog along for adventures. Another playful large dog would be a bonus, but the most important thing to Josie is having people who want her close by.

If you think Josie might be the perfect addition to your family, please contact Jackie directly.

FOSTER FAIL From Fibi to Phoebe! šŸ’™šŸŽ‰

Some foster fails happen slowly. Others happen the moment a dog walks through the front door. And then there was Phoebe.

Formerly known as Fibi, she didn’t just find a foster home. She found the place she was always meant to be… and a new name to mark the beginning of a brand-new life.

From the very beginning, there was something about her. Travis and Chelsea tried to convince themselves she was only staying for a little while. They reminded each other she was ā€œjust a foster.ā€ But rescue has a way of laughing at those plans. Because hearts don’t ask permission before they fall in love.

Phoebe arrived carrying more than just a leash and a collar. She carried fear, uncertainty, medical complications no one saw coming, and a future that could have looked very different if rescue hadn’t stepped in. Then came the emergency surgery. The fear. The long nights. The medications. The setbacks. The uncertainty of not knowing what tomorrow would bring.

There were moments when all anyone wanted was for this sweet girl to simply feel better. And she did. She fought through every obstacle with the quiet resilience that only dogs seem to possess. She trusted again. She healed. She learned that hands were meant for comfort, not fear. That beds were soft. That people stayed. That love didn’t have conditions. Little by little, she stopped surviving and started living. She became the dog who loved brewery patios, neighborhood walks, car rides, fetch, cooling mats on hot afternoons, blueberries, watermelon, and squeaky ducks. She adored children, especially little Grace, who proudly declared Phoebe was ā€œbougieā€ because they both loved blueberries and watermelon.

She learned that the world wasn’t so scary after all. She worked through her leash reactivity one success at a time. She met dogs who became friends instead of something to fear. She learned that she could look to her people when life felt overwhelming. Most importantly…She found her family. And while she loved them both, everyone knew who had completely stolen her heart. The moment Travis came home from a work trip, Chelsea joked she instantly became chopped liver. We all laughed because we all knew exactly what it meant. Phoebe had chosen her people.

There is something incredibly beautiful about watching a dog decide she belongs somewhere. Not because someone signed an adoption contract. But because, in her heart, she had already decided she was home. Travis and Chelsea didn’t just foster Phoebe. They celebrated every tiny victory. They cried over the hard days. They laughed through the chaos. They rearranged their lives around her recovery. They learned her fears, celebrated her progress, and loved her through every single step of the journey. They didn’t rescue Phoebe. They gave her something even more precious. A place where she will never again wonder if she belongs. A place where she will always be chosen. A place where she will always be loved.

Sometimes the greatest gift rescue gives isn’t finding a dog a family. It’s watching a family discover they were missing a dog they hadn’t even met yet.

Congratulations, Travis and Chelsea.

Thank you for opening your hearts to a little girl who needed someone to believe in her.

And congratulations, sweet Phoebe.

Your rescue story doesn’t end today. Today, it becomes a forever story. Happy Forever Home Day, beautiful girl. Go live the life you fought so hard to have. You are finally, completely, and forever… home. šŸ’™šŸ¾
