Toy Poodle Shenanigans

Loki, Charlie & Phin had their annual exams and bloodwork this morning. They all were due for Bordetella, and Phin got a rabies shot. F***l samples were brought, as well😊

When you pick a vet for your puppy (I get asked all the time about how to go about choosing one), treat it like you’re picking a doctor for yourself. Read reviews- establish a good, professional relationship with them. I’ve had an amazing vet for 7+ years now (the whole office is amazing!), and I always feel heard with my concerns, I never feel rushed, or like my concerns are unimportant. She is always quick to answer my questions. Dr. Rios has seen Sophie 3 times in the last 3 weeks: once for the spay, once for her annual exam, and once for the teeth cleaning/tooth extraction surgery. I appreciate so much that she was so quick to respond this morning, and that she’s not making me bring her back in for this. Choose a vet that really cares that YOU care about your animals. It makes the experience so much better!
(**Yes, this is a pretty late reaction on her incision- as her spay was done 3 weeks ago, and it JUST started to look like this).

Here are a few products I really love that I’d like to share. These work well for MY pups (I understand everyone’s pups are different).
The ear cleaners work great. The EarWell one really makes their ears smell nice and fresh. If your pups’ ears smell off, or like mildew, chances are they have yeast or even an infection. You can try a cleaner first, and if it doesn’t help, definitely bring them to a vet. Poodles have ears that flop (unlike a yorkie or terrier, for example), so moisture can get trapped in their ears and not dry out very well- making them susceptible to yeast infections.
Head-shaking and scratching is a good indication of an ear issue.
The Alpha Paws works so well for paws that struggle with seasonal allergies. If your pup is biting at their paws a lot, licking, or if they stink like frito chips- it’s most likely yeast. This stuff works so fast, and I really love it. I also noticed Bear had flaky skin in his paws and used this on them, and it’s all gone in two days.
