Trinity Ecumenical Parish

Mini-Missions Day 2 was a hot one, with time spent at Smith Mountain Lake Community Park. The youth hung in there and did a great job picking up trash and cleaning up the lakeshore. They did especially well at making connections between our work at the lakeshore and the story in Luke 5:1–11 of Jesus teaching a crowd from a boat and calling his first disciples.

Mini-Missions Update ✨
Mini-Missions Day 1 took the group to New Life Center for Thoroughbreds. They met Apple, a former racehorse who now enjoys the sanctuary and good care at New Life. They spent time scrubbing water troughs and food bowls, which helps care for these special animals. This time spent serving was paired with Luke 15:1-7, the parable of the lost sheep, where the shepherd leaves the 99 and goes in search of the 1 that was missing. Much rejoicing happens when the one is rescued and returned to the flock. They made connections between how the shepherd cares for all the sheep and how New Life cares for all the horses—and how the middle schoolers were able to help out! The group talked about love, trust, and Jesus as the Good Shepherd.
