CONGRATULATIONS! Chelsea Bitner received the Maggie Webb Scholarship
Field of Study: Nonprofit Management
Chelsea is resolute about avoiding a career that amasses wealth
devoid of meaning or one spent in a cubicle performing tasks
that lack significance. Instead, she aspires to build a life centered
on service, a goal she has been pursuing since high school. She
realized that mere volunteering wouldn't fulfill this desire; she
aims to create and manage organizations that enhance impact
by fostering selflessness within entire communities.
The inspiration for this vision emerged from her experience with
New Kingdom Trailriders, a therapeutic horseback riding program
for individuals with disabilities. Volunteering there instilled in her
values of empathy, genuine accountability, and leadership
development—it also demonstrated the profound transformation
a nonprofit can effect in people's lives.

CONGRATULATIONS! Stella Pottebaum received the Lee McAllister and the Page and Sandra Bellinger Scholarships
Field of Study: Speech-Language Pathology
Stella was pulled out of class for speech therapy throughout
elementary school — and she loved every session. While other
kids might have been embarrassed, she treasured the games,
the growth, and the steady progress of fixing her lisp in what felt
like record time. That experience planted a seed: she spent her
free time pretending to teach imaginary classes at a whiteboard,
already sensing that some combination of teaching and helping
people communicate was her calling. Stella has found her precise shape in speech-language
pathology. What excites her most is the field’s flexibility; she
could work with NICU infants or nursing home residents, in
schools, hospitals, or private practice, across every stage of
life. She has already observed speech pathologists in
multiple settings and confirmed that every one of them felt
right. Her dream is to design a welcoming classroom full of
games and creative activities that make practice feel like
anything but work—the kind of space she once got to walk
into as a child.

CONGRATUATIONS! Lucas Nelson received the Ronald Inskeep Scholarship!
Field of Study: Cybersecurity
From an early age, he has pursued his interest in programming,
engineering, and cybersecurity through advanced coursework,
summer camps, and hands-on learning experiences. He has applied
his skills in real-world settings by conducting pe*******on testing,
competing in cybersecurity Capture the Flag competitions, and
leading his team at the CornCon Cybersecurity Conference.
Beyond academics, he has demonstrated dedication and
teamwork through years of cross country and baseball,
developing the collaboration and leadership skills that will serve
him well in the fast-growing field of cybersecurity. He also plans
to join The Data Mine learning community, where he will work
alongside fellow students and industry partners on real-world
projects.
Coach Schimmel says, "Beyond academics, Lucas is the epitome of
a great teammate. As a four-year member of the Moline High
School Baseball program, he has been a dependable and reliable
presence year after year. Coaches and teammates alike know they
can count on Lucas to show up prepared, compete with integrity,
and put the team first. His leadership is demonstrated not just
through words, but through daily actions — his effort,
accountability, and positive influence set the standard for others."

Lifting weights and conditioning in the summer are good and weight lifting is a must. 2-3 days a week in the weight room and a couple miles a week is a good base for the summer.
Don’t confuse those with wrestling workouts though. You have to prioritize your wrestling workouts above all else. After all, we are wrestlers not powerlifters or cross country athletes.
Your training schedule should be based around how you can feel your best for your wrestling specific workout. Drilling? Sparing? Tough live day? Whatever it is priority one is THAT workout with your other workouts being complimentary to that workout.
Don’t max squat and run hill sprints if you aren’t going to be able to stay in your stance for your wrestling workout that afternoon.
This was something I learned early in my highschool days and it made a world of difference. Summer wrestling is a time to introduce new technique, fix past bad habits, slow things down and improve wrestling specific skills.
With that said we are in the room again tomorrow night, be there! Go maroons, stacking days!
