"They say we become the adult our child self needed. I like to think about the younger version of me and what he would say now if he saw what his life would become.

He would be proud. Shocked, yes. But without a doubt proud.

I am gay, yes.

AND I’m a son, a brother, and a friend.

I’m an advocate, party planner, and fundraiser.

AND I’m a lover of the sims, cats, and garbage television.

Today, I get to exist in a multitude of different ways. I get to be gay AND. The ability to exist that way, openly and uninhibited, is a privilege.

I’m so grateful to that younger version of me that kept going so I could be here right now.
