Hot Roddin' for Scholars

🌧️🚗 Despite a few sprinkles, yesterday turned out to be a great day for the car show! We had 214 registered cars, and with a few cruisers who didn’t register, we estimate the total turnout was closer to 220. That’s a little down from last year, but with the weather and the date change, it’s understandable.
🅿️ I want to sincerely apologize for the parking confusion yesterday morning. It stemmed from late registrations and a change in facility management—Bob retired, and the new manager didn’t relay our setup needs to the team. That’s why things weren’t ready when we arrived. Thank you all for your patience and flexibility.
💬 I also want to address some rumors that were circulating and be completely transparent with you all. Many of you are friends, and you deserve to know what’s been happening behind the scenes.
🎓 Black Hawk College and I have been in discussions for months about them taking a more active role in the car show—especially since the proceeds benefit their scholarship fund. Jeremy, the college president, is a car enthusiast himself and understands the spirit of these events.
🎉 Going forward, the college will take over the “party planning” side—sponsors, trophies, t-shirts, and more. It’s been a lot for one person (me!) and a handful of volunteers to manage. I’ll still be involved: volunteering on the day of the show, attending planning meetings, and helping guide the process.
❤️ I’m not stepping away from the show entirely, but I am stepping back from the planning. As many of you know, my dad passed away this January. He loved this show deeply, and I’ve found it hard to carry that torch alone. I still want to be part of it, just in a different way.
📅 The show will return to its usual date—the last Sunday in September—and the tradition will continue strong. Even better, 100% of the proceeds will now go directly to the scholarship fund and the Athletic Department, specifically the Softball program.
📞 If you’d like to chat more about this, feel free to reach out to me directly. I’m always happy to talk, whether on the phone or when I see you out and about.
🙏 Huge thanks to everyone who came out, and to the Black Hawk Golf Team for volunteering and selecting our winners. Special shoutout to our registration and t-shirt crew: Darci, Deb, Toney, Missy, Hadeshia, and the golf team—you were rockstars during the morning rush!
🏆 Remember, car shows aren’t just about trophies—they’re about making memories with friends and family. That’s the real prize.
Until next year, friends!
