🚨 Community Update Following the Recent Storms

Please keep these important reminders in mind:

🌳 Public Works crews continue to remove storm debris throughout the Village. Cleanup will take several days due to the amount of fallen trees and branches. Residents needing tree debris pickup should place debris in the parkway near the curb and call (708) 479-3900.

💧 Residents are also asked to voluntarily reduce outdoor watering for one day to help the Village's water system recover following a water main break and recent power outages.

The Mokena Police Department Junior Police Academy has been busy with Classes 2 and 3!

During Class 2, students learned about traffic stops, officer safety techniques, and ways officers work to de-escalate situations during traffic stops. After learning the basics, students geared up and participated in live scenarios to test the skills they were taught.

During Class 3, students received hands-on training in defensive tactics and handcuffing. They were also introduced to TASER and ASP baton training, learning how these secondary weapon systems are used, when they may be used, and the importance of proper decision-making. Students then had the opportunity to practice these skills in a controlled training environment.

We are proud of the hard work, focus, and enthusiasm these students continue to bring to the Junior Police Academy. We look forward to seeing them continue to learn and grow throughout the program!

This morning, the Mokena Police Department had the pleasure of welcoming the campers from Little Blossoms Camp Fun Club for a special station tour!

Officer Thomas Czarnecki enjoyed showing the campers around the department and answering their many thoughtful questions about police work, our equipment, and how we help keep our community safe. Their curiosity, excitement, and great questions made for a fun and memorable morning!
