This Black History Month, we are honoring Dr. William E. Allen Jr., the first African American radiologist.

Dr. Allen achieved numerous distinctions throughout his career, including Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology, Chairman of the Radiology Section of the National Medical Association, and Gold Medalist of the American College of Radiology. He was the first African American to hold many of these roles.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Allen worked tirelessly to expand access to education and opportunity for future generations, leaving a lasting impact on radiology as both a science and a profession.

We are proud to honor his legacy during Black History Month.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His vision of equality, compassion, and service continues to inspire us as we work to expand access to high-quality care for every community we serve.
