Present Laughter unfolds over the course of two weeks in the life of Garry Essendine, a popular stage actor preparing to embark on a touring production in Africa – unless his impending mid-life crisis and habit of getting entangled with admirers manage to tie him up at home indefinitely! Luckily for Garry, his whip-smart secretary, doting valet, and sarcastic-yet-patient ex-wife are there to take matters in hand. Like in any great farce, Present Laughter has plenty of doors, multiple misunderstandings, and sidesplitting wordplay delivered as only the great Noel Coward can.
