It's officially Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo season!

Keep a lookout for us while on your way to Dauphin Island for the Roy Martin Young Anglers Tournament this weekend, and remember to keep your trash stowed! Unsecured bottles, cans, and other trash in a boat or truck bed will blow out onto our roads and wash into our waterways. We are partnered with the Mobile Jaycees to remind travelers and anglers that trash blows... so stow it!

This newsletter is a collaboration between the Mobile Bay NEP and the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, State Lands Division, Coastal Section and provides a biannual update on local restoration and conservation activities.

Thank you to Baldwin County Commission for your partnership in improving our understanding of the Styx River Watershed. This project will support the health of the watershed and the resilience of the communities within it.

Today the Baldwin County Commission approved an agreement with the Dauphin Island Sea Lab / Mobile Bay National Estuary Program to help study and improve the Styx River Watershed.

Through this $60,000 partnership project, the county will create computer models that show how the river responds during big rainstorms. These models will help us plan for flooding, protect homes and property, support future environmental projects, and help guide decisions regarding future growth.

Over the next year, the county and project partners will develop the models, upload them into a specialized system, and complete the required documentation.
