Interview with Karla Altamirano
by Kismeth Melendez

(Part 1) Exclusive interview with Karla Altamirano, the first Miss Mobile Latin Fest 2025, 20 years old, is Chilean, but her heart also belongs to Peru, as her mother and grandparents are from that beautiful country.
She is currently studying Nursing at the University of South Alabama. Karla has always loved the traditional dances of Chile and Peru.

Throughout her academic career, she has demonstrated commitment and dedication and has been a member of honor societies. In high school, she was a member of the Honor Society and the NSHSS (National Society of High School Scholars), and she is currently a member of the NSLS (National Society of Leadership and Success) at the university. These experiences reflect her constant effort to grow academically and personally.

Karla Altamirano tells us and quotes us in this way:
(โ€œI am aware of the economic situation and how difficult it is for my father to pay for my studies, but I know that this sacrifice is worth it, so every day I strive to be a better student and future professional.โ€)

(โ€œToday I am a university student and my greatest desire is to be a nurse, not only a professional who assists, but also someone who accompanies their patients throughout their recovery process. Currently, I have the opportunity to volunteer at the University of South Alabama hospital, specifically in the emergency room. There, on several occasions, I have acted as a translator for many Latino brothers and sisters who are going through difficult times with their health. For me, being able to help them fills my heart in an indescribable way. Every smile and every thank you reminds me why I chose this path. I know that God guides me and accompanies me in every step I take, and also places the right people in my path at the right moment.โ€)

Altamirano thanks everyone who has supported her throughout the process: her family, her teachers, and the scholarship that HABAGC Hispanic American Business Association of the Gulf Coast has awarded her to support her studies.

Don't miss the second part of this great interview! ๐Ÿคฉ
